Southampto­n swoop for Dutch ace Clasie

SOUTHAMPTO­N have replaced Morgan Schneiderl­in by spending £10.5million on Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie, who has agreed a fiveyear deal at St Mary’s. Schneiderl­in joined Manchester United for £24m on Monday. Clasie, 24, said: ‘It’s a big club playing in what I think is the biggest and most important league.’ CRYSTAL PALACE have had a £3m bid for QPR keeper Alex McCarthy rejected. The 25-yearold has a £3.5m release clause and Palace want him to replace Wayne Hennessey, 28, who is expected to join WEST BROMWICH ALBION. Albion have had a £5m offer for Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio, 25, rejected. REAL MADRID, Manchester United and Roma have enquired about free agent keeper Sergio Romero. BAYERN MUNICH have made a bid for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal. ROBERTO Martinez says Everton midfielder James McCarthy (above) is not for sale amid interest from Spurs and Manchester City. McCarthy, 24, is unsettled over his contract but the Everton boss said: ‘He is a vital part of our squad.’ City’s French midfielder Olivier Ntcham, 19, is set to join Genoa on loan. Villa were lining up a £1million bid for the 18-year-old who rejected the offer of a new contract at Barnsley on Monday. United have invited him to train with them.
