Let Chilcot take his time

-

surely it is more important that the Chilcot report is incontestable rather than published in a time many want? It will be challenged and I, for one, would like those querying it to have as little ground as possible.

If it has been rushed, if there are errors, it will be so much harder to use it to attack anyone it criticises.

I believe tony Blair did nothing wrong, and if you believe that is what Chilcot will say, maybe you need to lay the groundwork to dismissing it when it comes out.

If it does criticise Blair, it will be much easier for him to defend himself if Chilcot has done a rushed job, especially if rushed by Blair’s critics.

I also think it is in Britain’s defence interests to have a history of always supporting the u.s. in its defence objectives. that means we should have gone into Iraq just because President Bush asked us to.

If Blair thought he needed further grounds to justify the invasion to Parliament, then he should have limited himself to what he could defend. I believe he has done this and so the Chilcot report will not deliver what Blair’s opponents want.

Maybe Chilcot is just avoiding all the bile that will be aimed at him when he doesn’t come up with what the public wants, because he cannot honestly give them what they want.

I don’t think it will happen, but I’d love to see a Prime Minister Corbyn have to deal with a President trump!
