Ice cool Kate dazzles for 007
THE Duchess of Cambridge brought a touch of regal elegance to the royal premiere of 007 movie Spectre last night.
But the Bond girls looked equally glamorous, with Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci all dazzling on the red carpet in their impressive frocks.
Kate, however, still managed to catch the attentions of Bond himself, chatting animatedly to actor Daniel Craig, 47, at the event at the Royal Albert Hall.
The duchess was in fits of laughter at Craig’s jokes, and indeed it was hard to tell who was more excited – the actors or the royal guests.
Kate, who chose to go braless in her Jenny Packham gown, was joined by her husband Prince William and Prince Harry, both dressed in Bondstyle black tie.
The three arrived on the red carpet in a chauffeur- driven Bentley and were met by the producers of Spectre, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, and the film’s British director Sam Mendes, ex-husband of Kate Winslet.
The surprise of the night was Prince Harry, who appeared starstruck at meeting the film’s leading man. He even patted Craig down as if
‘It’s like joining
a family’
discussing his suit or physique and then asked to borrow a reporter’s pen to get the actor to sign his programme.
Asked whether the autograph might be for charity, a member of staff laughed and said: ‘No, I think it is for him.’
Lea Seydoux, Monica Bellucci and Naomie Harris certainly took the opportunity to turn heads with their own glamorous dresses.
Miss Seydoux, 30, who plays the mysterious and sultry Madeleine Swann, opted for a floor-length goldsleeved Prada gown with a silver waist belt and an open back.
Seemingly overawed by the occasion, she joked: ‘I can’t believe it. I don’t know if I’m a Bond girl, I’m just a blonde girl.’
Miss Bellucci, at 51 the oldest ever Bond girl, opted for a teal velvet sleeved gown by Ralph & Russo, with a plunging neckline and thighhigh slit.
Meanwhile Miss Harris, who plays Moneypenny, wore an orange strapless fitted Stella McCartney gown with a slight train which an aide helped carry up the red carpet. Talking about working on the film, the British actress, 39, said: ‘It really is like joining a family and that’s so special. It’s great to be reunited every couple of years.’
Craig looked sharp in a Tom Ford suit and was spotted receiving an embrace from his actress wife Rachel Weisz, 45.
The premiere was also attended by Dame Shirley Bassey, 74 – who sang the theme songs for 1964’s Goldfinger, 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever and 1979’s Moonraker – and Sam Smith, 23, who sings the Spectre title song Writing’s On The Wall.
Other stars at the event were double Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz, who plays the film’s vil- lain, Ben Wishaw who plays MI6 gadget supremo Q, Sherlock star Andrew Scott who portrays the head of MI5, and Ralph Fiennes, who has taken over from Dame Judi Dench as M.
