Corbyn’s policy chief could get booted out

JEREMY Corbyn’s hard-Left policy chief is facing expulsion from the Labour Party.

Andrew Fisher is being investigated after urging voters to support the anarchist Class War party at the General Election instead of Labour.

The inquiry comes as a string of Labour MPs vented their fury at their leader over the appointment of Mr Fisher and former journalist Seumas Milne – who has defended terrorists and is now the party’s head of communications – to key posts in Mr Corbyn’s inner circle.

Mr Fisher had urged voters not to elect Emily Benn, the granddaughter of veteran Left-winger Tony, when she stood for Labour in Croydon South, in South London, at the General Election. Miss Benn, who lost to the Conservatives, has written to the party’s

general secretary calling for Mr Fisher to be expelled for breaking party rules which state that members must not campaign for another candidate.

The policy chief, who used to work for the RMT union, has offended MPs with tweets calling Jack Straw a ‘vile git’ and cheering the loss of former shadow chancellor Ed Balls’ seat at the election.

A Labour spokesman last night confirmed Mr Fisher’s membership was being considered after Mr Corbyn’s combative meeting with Labour MPs who attacked his choice of hard-Left advisers.

Former shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna said: ‘We need to kick the Tories out, we need to assemble an army of activists. How on earth can I persuade my members to campaign there when our goal is being thwarted by a member there?’
