FREEVIEW ROMCOM Definitely, Maybe, 6.50pm, Film4

IT’S unusual to see a romcom led by a male star, but it really works in this delightful tale of love lost and found. Ryan Reynolds is the soon-to-be-divorced man telling his daughter the story of how he met her mum.

FANTASY ADVENTURE The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, 7pm, Sky Action

IF THE Harry Potter marathon over on Sky Greats isn’t your thing, perhaps Peter Jackson’s Tolkien trilogy on Action might fit the bill over the next three nights . . .

MODERN WOES Professor Green: Suicide And Me, 9pm, BBC3

IN BRITAIN, suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45. Stephen Manderson (rapper Professor Green, pictured) was estranged from his dad, who took his own life at the age of just 43. For this sincere and worthwhile new film, Manderson tries to understand what drove his dad to such action, and looks at how men deal — or don’t deal — with emotion. Hopefully, this will do some good.

DRAMA SERIES Rectify, 9pm, AMC

DANIEL (Aden Young) is still in a coma — raging against himself — while there are signs that the townspeople are softening towards him. Even the man who put him in hospital seems to want to be caught in an episode that features some nice music choices near the end. (Sky 192, BT TV 332)

LATER LIVES Close To The Edge, 10pm, BBC4

THE final two episodes of this jolly reality series about over-65s in Bournemouth. Here, Chris and Vanessa discuss bowls, Dee laments to Annie that she may have to ‘hang up my suspenders’ and retire from dating, and there are some matter-of-fact discussions of death. Different to the way older people are usually portrayed on TV, this is a refreshing change.

COMEDY SERIES The Job Lot, 10.30pm, ITV2

KARL and Natalie (Laura Aikman) try to spice up their relationship in a new episode of the job centre comedy, but end up on opposite sides of a picket line. The moment when the managers are left alone to run the centre is a highlight.
