No sweat, the trousers you can cycle to the office in ...and then wear all day

- Daily Mail Reporter

IF you like to hit the ground running when you get to work, this could be right up your street.

Inventors have come up with trousers made from a fabric that combines four kinds of fibre, so they can absorb sweat without becoming damp or smelly.

It means keep-fit enthusiasts who cycle or jog to work can get on with their day without having to change into office trousers. They are claimed to combat bacteria from sweat, so can be worn around 15 times before they need washing – twice a month if worn daily.

The Nature2X material used in the ‘No Sweat Pants’ is made from Tencel, polyester, cotton and spandex. Tencel, produced from eucalyptus trees, is said to absorb sweat, as well as being anti-bacterial and odour resistant. Polyester is durable and quick drying, cotton breathable and comfortable and the spandex adds stretch.

Steven Sal Debus from Du/Er, the Canadian firm producing the trousers, said he and his colleagues came up with the idea because they were cyclists who rode to work and ‘wanted something that would meet our needs’.

He added: ‘We’ve been playing around with the mix of fabrics for two years and eventually got it right. The weave of the fabric is not like a traditional twill or denim – it’s a hybrid, so you get something that on the inside feels like a sweatpant against your skin but on the surface looks very clean and smart. You could definitely wear these to work.’

His firm used the Kickstarter ‘crowdfunding’ website to raise money to develop the trousers and test the market, and Mr Debus said he was ‘surprised’ at how popular they had proved.

The trousers, which come in three styles for men and two for women, will be on sale online early next year for £98 a pair.

It is not known if the firm has plans for shirts made from the same material so keep-fit fanatics can get down to work without any change of clothes at all.
