A FOUR-LETTER CATASTROPHE
THE Lib Dems are having a detailed inquest into their worst election result for 50 years, with their number of MPs down from 57 to eight.
They should have just asked Sir Nick Harvey, the former Lib Dem defence minister, who summed up what went wrong in Liberator magazine. ‘We offered voters a diet of backward looking self-congratulation on what we had achieved in Coalition,’ he wrote. ‘On and on we warbled like a cracked record. What we may never know is what difference a better strategy would have made. It may be we were just simply f****d anyway.’
