Queen takes on hackers
THE Queen summoned one of Britain’s leading computer security experts to Buckingham Palace earlier this year, amid fears that the Royal Family could be targeted by foreign spies and hackers. Now, she is taking action.
The Royal Household is advertising for an official who will be paid £47,000 per year to prevent the Palace’s computers being hacked. The ‘Senior Information Assurance Professional’ is to be based in the private secretary’s office at Buckingham Palace. ‘The Information Assurance team ensures the Royal Household’s information is securely and correctly maintained,’ says the advert on the royal website.
‘You’ll help to anticipate and assess information and cyber security risks.’
This follows private talks between the Queen and Sadie Creese, professor of cyber security at Oxford University.
