Those pil­lowy cheeks and squidgy skin around her wrists and an­kles are char­ac­ter­is­tic of six-month-olds, but that baby fat will soon melt away.

Dr Chicot says Char­lotte will have dou­bled her birth weight — she was 8lb 3oz when she was born on May 2 — mak­ing her just over a stone, and will now stop grow­ing at such a rapid rate.

‘Cheeks are a nor­mal place for ba­bies to have fat re­serves, as are the “bracelets” she has on her wrists and an­kles,’ says Dr Chicot.

‘These re­serves will be called on as she grows around half-an-inch in length each month.’

she is likely to have started eating solid food and will slowly be weaned off milk. Kate breast­fed Ge­orge and is likely to have done the same with Char­lotte, so she will be re­plac­ing her daugh­ter’s bot­tle with pureed, or­ganic baby food.
