Mein Kampf back in German shops
HITLER’S Mein Kampf, which had been banned in Germany since the collapse of Nazism, will return to the bookshelves next month in the country he led to ruin.
Despite opposition from critics who say it will become a symbol for neo-Nazis, the book – already available around the world – will be on sale from the middle of January after the expiry of the copyright on December 31. It will cost almost £40.
Hitler wrote his anti-Semitic manifesto while in prison in the 1920s. Magnus Brechtken, the deputy director of the Munich Institute for Contemporary History, said the new publication would be heavily annotated, with Hitler’s words dwarfed by comments from historians and academics pointing out the absurdity of his statements.
