Share a bed with Dame Joan for $200

-

WHEN Dame Joan Collins announced she was auctioning off ‘furnishings and personal items’, fans were delighted at the chance to get their hands on some iconic objects from the actress’s 60-year career.

But it looks as if her husband Percy Gibson has used the opportunity to clear out some of his junk, which has been in storage for years, including a stained headboard (starting bid: $200, pictured top right, and, below, in better days) and a torn painting, with a £20,000 estimate (fear not, the missing piece is included).

Also up for auction in Los Angeles is the white dress and cape designed by Collins herself, which she wore to pick up her damehood at Buckingham Palace earlier this year (right). It’s accompanied by a photograph of Prince Charles pinning the gong on her.

‘She won’t wear it again,’ a friend tells me by way of explanation. Her spokesman insists: ‘The majority of the proceeds are going to charity, if not all of them.’
