SHE has reinvented herself as a political activist since her wild child days.

But it would appear singer Charlotte Church still enjoys a good party.

She upset neighbours near her luxury home after hosting a party for her 30th birthday which lasted until 5.30am.

Police were called in the early hours of Sunday morning as loud music blasted from her £1.5million home in the upmarket village of Dinas Powys, Glamorgan.

The mother of two, who shot to fame as a 12-year-old soprano with debut album Voice of an Angel, is thought to have invited 100 guests and also hired a band to play in her three-acre garden.

One neighbour, who said he usually wore a hearing aid, claimed to have called police at 4.30am after even he became ‘sick of hearing this wailing coming out over a speaker system’.

He added: ‘It was like a warzone. I presume it was Charlotte singing. Put it this way – she’s no longer got the voice of an angel. It was completely out of order.’

Another neighbour, who also did not wish to be named, said: ‘We assumed there was going to be a party, but we had no idea it would go on until 5.30 in the morning. It was absolutely appalling.’

Locals described seeing people sleeping in cars by the house until lunchtime the next day.

Yesterday the clean-up operation was still going on behind high gates.

A dance floor was being dismantled and workers loaded sound equipment and beer barrels on to trucks. Tesco’s own- brand cranberry, orange and apple juice was also being packed up from the bar and a pair of gold peep-toe stilettos were left discarded among decorations.

It is believed Miss Church was not at home as the debris was cleared away. One worker said: ‘She’s gone away for her birthday.’

Locals also took to social media to com- plain. Miss Church was condemned for her ‘selfish and inconsiderate behaviour’ as it was claimed the ‘boom-boom’ of the bass could be heard in villages several miles away.

Householder Dewi Jones said: ‘If you live in a village community you have a responsibility towards your neighbours.

‘You could hear the bass beat in Michaelston-le-Pit. Selfish and inconsiderate behaviour.’

Miss Church paid £1.3million for the house in a country lane in 2010 after her high-profile split from rugby star Gavin Henson. She lives in the five-bedroom property with children Ruby, eight, and Dexter, seven, and musician boyfriend Jonathan Powell.

Miss Church was labelled a ‘wild child’ in her teens and early 20s after a string of turbulent relationships and being frequently pictured smoking and stumbling out of pubs.

She has recently reinvented herself as a political and social activist, campaigning with Greenpeace against drilling in the Arctic and speaking out about austerity.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: ‘Five calls were received in relation to a loud party in the Dinas Powys area in the early hours of Sunday, February 21. Those responsible were contacted but no arrests were made.’

A spokesman for Miss Church declined to comment.
