The oh-so ‘subtle’ ways newly engaged stars show off their super-bling rings

ON SATURDAY, Kylie announced her engagement to British actor Joshua Sasse in the Daily Telegraph’s Forthcoming Marriages section. Days earlier, at an awards ceremony, the Australian singer had been coy about rumours she was tying the knot — but, with a not-so-subtle sweep of the hair, her diamond ring said it all. Kylie, 47, has shrugged off the age gap between her and Sasse, 28, commenting: ‘Even if I try and act cool and natural, it’s written all over my face that I am very happy.’ Well, with a rock like that, it’s no surprise.

MARIAH CAREY

A DIVA like Mariah was never going to accept anything but super-bling from her new fiancé, media tycoon James Packer. The Australian, worth around £3 billion, presented Mariah, 45, with the 35-carat square-cut diamond last month. The ring cost a staggering £6.5 million and is seen here at the couple’s engagement party. Yes, it’s big, but the way she’s waving it around you could see it from the moon.

BEYONCE

BEYONCE, 34, and her rapper husband Jay-Z married in secret. It wasn’t until after their wedding in 2008 that we saw her engagement ring. It may have just the one stone, but that is a 20-carat diamond the size of a boiled sweet and is reported to have cost Jay-Z £3 million. Just as well he is worth £375 million — the woman whose most famous lyric urged men to ‘put a ring on it’ could hardly sport something from Argos, could she?

KIM KARDASHIAN

KIM’S third husband, rapper Kanye West, didn’t disappoint. He gave reality star Kim, 35, a £1 million, 15-carat diamond ring he’d designed — prompting more preening than usual from Kim, who shared a photo of it in the tiny fist of her daughter North. They wed in May 2014 — so the marriage is already more successful than Kim’s last one, which endured just 72 days.

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

BEST-known for posing in her scanties for M&S, Rosie, 28, recently got engaged to action hero Jason Statham, her boyfriend of five years, who, 12 years ago, had the honour of being pin-up Kelly Brook’s first fiancé. Today, Jason is worth £34 million and gave Rosie a five-carat diamond ring worth £250,000. By coincidence, Rosie seems unable to keep that pesky strand of hair off her face.

JENNIFER ANISTON

IN AUGUST 2012, hot on the heels of her ex Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s engagement, came news Jennifer, 47, was to remarry. Her husband Justin Theroux has a fraction of her wealth, but he didn’t skimp on Jen’s knuckleduster, which she displayed to perfection at a film screening. The radiant-cut eight carat diamond cost around £300,000 and they married in August 2015.

CHERYL FERNANDEZ-VERSINI

CHERYL, 32, announced her marriage to Frenchman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in July 2014. Nobody is too sure what he is worth, but he gave her an impressive ring — as shown by every casual tweak of her hair. The flawless six-carat emerald-cut diamond also has two trapezium-cut diamonds on either side and cost £275,000. It will certainly last longer than the marriage did.

KATE HUDSON

WHEN actress Kate Hudson, 36, got engaged to Muse singer Matt Bellamy in April 2011, he gave her a £200,000 ring: a nine-carat emerald-cut diamond with two baguettecut diamonds either side. In the months that followed, she happily primped in public, while Matt, worth £8 million, gave Kate a further two engagement rings. But the couple split last October without marrying.

CHRISTINE BLEAKLEY

TV PRESENTER Christine, 37, came over strangely bashful when she was snapped after getting engaged to Frank Lampard in 2011. Frank took the idea of splashing a month’s salary on the ring seriously. He designed the side-set diamond and platinum ring himself, spending £250,000, the amount he earned per month at Chelsea FC. They wed in December 2015.

CAMERON DIAZ

HAVING said she would never marry, in 2014, Cameron Diaz’s repeated hair-flicking drew attention to a hefty new ring and sparked talk she was engaged to rocker Benji Madden. Sure enough, it emerged Benji — worth around £12 million — had presented the actress, 43, with the diamond-studded platinum band worth £100,000. They tied the knot last January.
