I BOUGHT a £4,445 stairlift for my wife from Acorn Stairlifts last year. In September, I paid another £595 for a four-year servicing package. I was promised a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher, but it never arrived.

ACORN eventually sent your voucher in January. It has now posted you some additional vouchers as a goodwill gesture and apologised for the delay.

MY flight to Northern Ireland was cancelled due to fog. The airline refunded my ticket but Gatwick Valet Parking won’t refund the £50 I paid upfront to park at the airport.

GATWICK valet Parking says that according to its terms and conditions you must give at least 24 hours’ notice of your cancellation to get a refund. If the flight is cancelled as a result of something out of your control — such as bad weather — it advises you claim compensation from your insurer.

But as a gesture of goodwill, the firm has, in this instance, agreed to refund you the £50.

IF I buy a gadget that allows me to control my heating using my mobile phone, will I still be able to use it if I change energy provider?

YES, you will. These gadgets are fitted to your boiler, so who your energy supplier is doesn’t affect how it works. You will be able to continue using your app as normal.

I RECENTLY checked my credit rating and discovered Vodafone has put a debt into default against me. I haven’t been a Vodafone customer for a year. I tried to call and complain, but I need a Vodafone number to get past the automated system.

WHEN you moved to a different mobile phone firm in February last year, you cancelled your direct debit before vodafone had taken the money for your final bill, dated March 3. This left an outstanding amount owed of £19.55.

vodafone did write to you but you had moved house so didn’t receive this letter. vodafone has now wiped the debt and will remove the marker on your credit file.
