Cleese leaps to defence of wife’s ‘airbrushed’ waist

-

Despite, or perhaps because of, his poor marital track record, Fawlty towers star John Cleese is determined to show the world that he has a chivalrous side.

the thrice-divorced actor yesterday leapt to the defence of his fourth wife, Jennifer Wade, after one of his social media followers criticised her recent photoshoot for the luxury beachwear label pink House Mustique.

Referring to this picture (far right) posted online by Cleese, in which jewellery designer Jennifer, 44, sports a limited-edition silk hooded top, the American follower known only as Ken had the temerity to suggest it had been digitally enhanced. He said: ‘that’s a severely photoshopped waist. incidentally, can someone [create an image of] a giant foot to fall on this pic? Much obliged!’

Despite the fact Ken has only 23 followers in the entire world, the sensitive 76-year-old Monty python comedian felt compelled to deliver a withering riposte, which he shared with his 5.2 million online fans.

said: ‘Are you prepared to put money where your mouth is? Because i maintain you are talking with your head up your a**.’

soon after, the hapless Ken deleted his remark.

Cleese, whose family surname was originally ‘Cheese’, wasn’t so gallant towards his ex-wife, psychotherapist Alyce Faye eichelberger.

Only last week, he made a joke about their divorce, saying on an Australian tV show: ‘the last time i paid for sex, it cost me $20 million!’

Cleese had to pay her £12 million, including £600,000-a-year for seven years, following their divorce in 2008 after 16 years of marriage. He made the final payment last July. While it’s unimaginable that Wade’s svelte frame would ever require photoshopping, John might find a bit of digital cropping of his expanding waistline wouldn’t go amiss.
