Sex trial footballer’s girl dumps him after he admits sleeping with other women
ADAM Johnson’s girlfriend told a court yesterday that she has ended their relationship after he admitted sleeping with other women.
Stacey Flounders, 26, said she had suspected the England footballer was being unfaithful throughout her pregnancy, and her fears were confirmed on the day Johnson was arrested for ‘sexual activity’ with a 15-year-old girl.
The £60,000-a-week Sunderland player – who has since been sacked by the club – had a 90minute heart-to-heart with Miss Flounders after returning home from the police station. He admitted kissing the girl in his car and when quizzed further, told her he was a serial cheat.
Miss Flounders wiped tears away with a tissue as she told the court she had stayed with the footballer, but has now decided they have no future together.
Asked by Johnson’s barrister,
‘We are just going to remain friends’
Orlando Pownall QC, why she had stayed with him, Miss Flounders replied: ‘Because he was honest with me, he was telling me the truth. We have a daughter and I wanted us to be a family.’
She was asked if she had made her mind up about the future of the relationship. She said: ‘I have. We are just going to remain friends.’ Asked if she saw her and Johnson having any future together, she replied: ‘Not at the minute I don’t, no.’
Johnson, 28, sat in the dock staring at the floor throughout Miss Flounders’s dramatic evidence at Bradford Crown Court.
She was not originally meant to appear in the trial and was added as a late witness, the jury heard.
Recalling her conversation with Johnson on the night of his arrest in March last year, she said he came home and spoke to her about ‘other women’. She said: ‘I asked him to tell me everything as I was being paranoid. He told me. He was being honest.’
Miss Flounders said Johnson spoke about ‘the other women he cheated on me with’.
Johnson revealed only one name, but asked how many women were mentioned, Miss Flounders said: ‘Quite a few.’
She agreed she had been concerned about Johnson sending text messages to other women throughout 2014 and had spoken to him about his use of social media. However, the day of the arrest was the first time he admitted being a cheat.
Johnson also confessed to his partner that he had met the teenage fan twice in his car, gave her two signed shirts and on the second occasion a ‘ thank you kiss’. Asked how she felt when he made the revelations, she said: ‘Obviously I was wanting to know what was going on. My head was all over the place.’
Miss Flounders said she told Johnson he was ‘stupid’. She added: ‘He was actually in shock as he realised what he did. He just said he was being stupid.’
She added: ‘Obviously I asked if he liked her, I was wondering why he kissed her and at first he said “no” and I said “you must have liked her” and he admitted that he did. I was asking so many questions about the other

women as well.’ Miss Flounders was initially told by Johnson that the teenager he kissed was 16, but he admitted two days later she was 15.
The court heard the girl was known to both Johnson and Miss Flounders because she would try to speak to the star after home matches when his girlfriend was with him. Miss Flounders and the girl even exchanged messages on Twitter in the months before the alleged sexual encounter. Miss Flounders tweeted her a ‘happy birthday’ message.
During her evidence, Miss Flounders was also asked questions about her partner’s pubic hair and shown a photograph of his penis.
She said he had trimmed his pubic area but she had never seen it shaved.
The teenager involved in the incident told the jury she noticed Johnson was shaved in that area during their encounter.
Johnson, of Castle Eden, Durham, denies two charges of sexual activity with a child. He has admitted a further charge of sexual activity with a child and sexual grooming.
