WEST INDIES COMPLETE THE DOUBLE

-

WEST INDIES men’s and women’s team celebrated together after Marlon Samuels & Co completed a dramatic double. Earlier in the day, West Indies claimed their first women’s Twenty20 title, breaking Australia’s six-year stranglehold on the trophy with an eight-wicket victory. Elyse Villani and Meg Lanning both hit 52 for Australia as the 2010, 2012 and 2014 champions made 148-5. West Indies’ opening pair of 18-year-old Hayley Matthews (66 from 45 balls) and player of the tournament Stafanie Taylor (59 from 57) did most of the damage and Britney Cooper hit the winning runs with three balls to spare.
