I fear Craig will drink himself to death, says ex-boyfriend
Strictly star ‘binges every day’
CRAIG Revel Horwood managed only one alcohol-free day in three years, claims a former boyfriend who fears the Strictly Come Dancing judge is drinking himself to death.
Damon Scott, who was with the TV star until February, blames Revel Horwood’s drinking for the collapse of their relationship but said he refuses to accept he has a problem.
Mr Scott, 36, also claims his former partner would lash out at him in drunken rages after binging on champagne, white wine and vodka. He told a Sunday newspaper: ‘ Craig is like Jekyll and Hyde when drink is involved – and drink is always involved.
His life revolves around it. First it will be the Veuve Clicquot champagne, then Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc, then – when he is drunk – vodka with Diet Coke’.
He said they could get through a bottle and a half of vodka between them in a single night but Revel Horwood, 51, refused to recognise he needs help.
Mr Scott said: ‘If I mentioned rehab to him, he’d just throw it back in my face and say I drank too much – which I did then. The difference was that for him it was a need rather than a want.
‘He drank so much he would have no idea what he was doing and then wake up the next day with no clue what he had done the night before.’
Revel Horwood’s father, who died recently, was an alcoholic and Mr Scott worries the Australian-born choreographer could go the same way. He told The Sun: ‘I don’t want to say he is like [his father], [but] I am scared for Craig if he doesn’t

get help.’ Revel Horwood has spoken previously of his feelings about his father, a navy officer.
He told the Mail in 2008: ‘My dad can be the nicest, most charming man, but when he drinks, that per- son disappears. I’m still on speaking terms with him and I still love him but we all have to accept that he’s chosen alcohol.’
Mr Scott, a puppeteer, says the only day that Revel Horwood did not drink during their three-year relationship was the day of his hip replacement operation in 2013 but lunchtime the following day he was drinking wine in hospital.
He does not drink before an episode of Strictly Come Dancing but has a glass of wine between the main show and the results, then a bottle in his dressing room for afterwards, Mr Scott claimed.
‘Then his PA will set up bottles and bottles on his table in the bar for him and his guests, and he’ll have a few bottles in a suitcase for taking home in the car.’
His hands shake if he has not had alcohol for a period of time, claims Mr Scott, who met Revel Horwood in 2013 at a club in Southampton.
They had a whirlwind romance, quickly moving in together, but split in February after a row at the Strictly tour wrap party.
A spokesman for Revel Horwood said yesterday: ‘ Craig Revel Horwood is away working on a Strictly cruise is not available for comment.’
