THIS IS WHAT 59 LOOKS LIKE

- LIE IN THE SUN Interview by ANGELA EPSTEIN DO YOU look great for your age? tell us your secret at inspire@dailymail.co.uk

Stephanie Freeman has been a model since her 20s and lives in Cheshire. She has two children. here, she reveals the routines that keep her looking young . . .

EMBRACE BEING A BLONDE

IT’S amazing how many women feel they’re too old to be blonde. Not only does it conceal the grey for longer — with dark hair it’s obvious as soon as it grows through — but I also find it gives your face a softer, more flattering look. I have soft highlights every couple of months and make sure to wash and condition it every day, so that it always looks, and feels, soft and shiny.

WEAR SKIMPY UNDERWEAR

BRIEF and seamless knickers are the only ones I ever wear. People assume that nice underwear is best left for young girls, but why should it be? I wear thongs all the time. I also much prefer how it looks under my clothes — having a smooth finish to your outfit is much more chic and youthful than a dreaded visible panty-line!

DON’T COUNT CALORIES

I HAVE a big appetite and always begin my day with a healthy breakfast. My favourite is boiled eggs with two oatcakes spread with organic peanut butter. I also have a diet high in healthy fats — I love olive oil and avocado oil, and eat lots of nuts and avocados. Omega-3 fatty acids are great for healthy skin and hair. These foods might be high in calories but I’ve never counted — a restricted diet doesn’t do anything to keep us young! You just have to make sure you stop eating once you feel full. IF I’M somewhere hot and want to lie in the sun, I give myself half an hour to feel its warmth on my skin before slapping on the factor 30. I just make sure I’m not out in it for hours and avoid the harsh midday sun. It increases our vitamin D levels, which is vital for healthy bones. And a light tan makes you look younger and feel better.

NEVER WEAR FLAT SHOES

YOU need heels to lengthen the legs and look more elegant. I don’t teeter around in impossibly high stilettos but, at the very least, will always wear a low, chunky heel. Long limbs are very youth-enhancing and nothing screams ‘old and unfashionable’ more than a pair of ugly, tired flat slip-on shoes.
