Parents held after their 6 month old is found dead
A COUPLE have been arrested on suspicion of murdering their sixmonth-old baby.
The infant, named on floral tributes as ‘Kayden’, was pronounced dead in hospital after paramedics were called to a report of a young child in cardiac arrest.
Yesterday police said the boy’s parents, a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, had been released on bail while inquiries into Sunday’s tragedy continue.
A post-mortem examination was being carried out but results are not due for several weeks.
A neighbour at the housing association property in Bilston, West Midlands, said: ‘All I know is the couple are both unemployed and have another boy aged four. It’s such a sad story.’
And a card left outside the flats read: ‘Kayden, we will miss you millions. Love you loads Lil-man, Love uncle Shane and Auntie Aimee, 2 cuz’s Doldee and Dainton. RIP lil man xxx’.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to an address just before 2pm on Sunday 12 June, following reports of a child in cardiac arrest.
‘The child, a boy, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. Forensic tests are now under way to establish the cause of death. A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and released on police bail.’
