Iran says British mum was trying to topple regime

-

A BRITISH-IRANIAN charity worker held in Iran since April was yesterday accused by the country’s Revolutionary Guard of seeking to ‘overthrow the regime’.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 37, pictured, an employee of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, was arrested at Tehran airport as she prepared to return to Britain with her daughter Gabriella after visiting family.

Her husband, Richard, dismissed the allegations as ‘complete nonsense’.

A spokesman for her employer said: ‘She has nothing to do with Iran in her work so we have no idea why she has been detained for more than two months, first in isolation and then in a common cell.’
