My firm favourite? It’s the pheasant feather!

ISABEL SAYS: Who would have thought an upturned saucer with swirly bits and a sticky-uppy pheasant feather could have such panache?
It’s quirky, jaunty and ladylike, without being ageing. It’s more of a headpiece than a hat, but has a good solid base that will pass muster with the royal hat police. And it’s only £80. I take my hat off to this hat. It’s my top choice for Ascot. STEPHEN SAYS: This is a small hat with a big personality. The gold sequins scream celebration.
But larger ladies should avoid tiny hats — they look out of proportion. Wider brims detract attention from other areas.
