THE second instalment of this poignant, heart-warming series following the stories of patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital meets three families who are dealing with difference. When your child doesn’t conform to the ‘norm’, how do you prepare them for life in a judgmental world, outside the family cocoon? It’s a question that’s troubling first-time parents Charlotte and Dan (pictured), whose daughter, Lily, was born with a cleft lip and palate, and is in urgent need of corrective surgery — at just six weeks old. We also meet Ellie, a ‘brave and brilliant’ teenager who is being treated for depression.
