Discount club

-

IN RESPONSE to the person who ‘mugged’ a Remain supporter of £350 (Letters), I asked to join his EU club, and he agreed to let me in at a discount, so I paid £250 instead of £350.

Then he said he would spend another £90 of that money in the UK to help our farmers and scientists.

So in return for a net £160, I could access without tariffs or customs bureaucracy a market of 500 million people that own a quarter of the world’s wealth. But I said no, I’m going to keep my money.

I will give the £90 to UK farmers and scientists and spend another £350 on my health service. And I wouldn’t let him or his friends into my country and I won’t obey the rules of his club.

I told him he would still let me into that market where I sell 45 per cent of my exports because his club sells 16 per cent of its exports to the UK. Oh, and by the way, I’d like to retire to Spain, I told him. And you know what, the man from the EU walked away shaking his head in disbelief.
