From Scarface to Chubbyface, it’s big Al Pacino
HE made his name playing brooding gangsters in Scarface and The Godfather.
But it seems Al Pacino’s days as a dangerously handsome heartthrob may be behind him.
The 76-year-old Oscar winner appeared to have piled on the pounds as he was spotted outside a theatre in West Hollywood, California, over the weekend.
Pacino, whose beard did little to disguise his jowls, wore bulky trainers and a creased white, untucked shirt that stretched over his expanding belly.
And although he wore a suit, it was a long way from his slick appearance in his biggest films, including his role as the ruthless Tony Montana in 1983’s Scarface. Pacino did not completely forgo his tough-guy image, adding sunglasses and knuckle rings to his outfit.
He rose to prominence in 1972 playing Michael Corleone in The Godfather. His casting was controversial as several established actors including Jack Nicholson tried out for the part.
He won Oscar nominations for The Godfather and The Godfather Part II in 1975 – and finally won an Academy Award for Scent of a Woman in 1993.
He is said to be preparing for a new role soon, appearing in a play on Broadway.
