Joan: We can’t even say boy or girl now
DAME Joan Collins believes society’s obsession with gender has gone ‘too far’ – and claims even the words ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ are now off-limits.
The Dynasty star said that the modern preoccupation with avoiding offence has become ‘a minefield’ and in some cases is little more than ‘stupid’.
‘You can’t even mention the word “tranny” now apparently,’ the 83-year-old told Saga Magazine.
‘I just say “man” or “woman”, “boy” or “girl” – but that’s not even correct now. I have to call myself a “heterosexual cis female” [a woman who was assigned female at birth]. That’s just stupid – and teaching four-year-olds about how they feel about their gender... I’m sorry – I think it has gone too far.’
The actress added that she supports Republican candidate Donald Trump – whose ex-wife Ivana was a ‘very good friend’ – in the US presidential race.
‘We need a strong leader who is going to crack down on terrorism – however that’s done,’ she said. ‘I have certain ideas but I’m not going to talk about them because they’d be politically incorrect.’
