IF YOU CHOSE MOSTLY TWOS . . .
YOU may have coeliac lite — otherwise known as non-coeliac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). This new, emerging entity is commonly diagnosed by non-traditional medical practitioners, but it still foxes the conventional medical community. It encompasses a diverse group of conditions — from IBS to fibromyalgia (muscle and joint pain) — that appear to improve when gluten is removed from the diet. But it’s vital that you don’t come off gluten before first asking your GP to screen you for coeliac disease with a blood sample. The tests
will show up your body’s reaction to gluten, and a diagnosis can only be made while you’re still eating gluten. Part two of this series in Monday’s paper will look in detail at what to do if you have coeliac lite.
