Burnley land Hendrick

- SIMON JONES

BURNLEY released the purse strings to bring in Jeff Hendrick from Derby for a club record £10.5million and followed by signing Poland winger Kamil Grosicki from Rennes. Hendrick had his medical yesterday morning after Burnley outbid Hull City to break their club record transfer fee for the Republic of Ireland international, who starred at Euro 2016. Hendrick said: ‘The Premier League was a big draw for me and it’s where I aspire to be after the summer I’ve had. I would have preferred it to happen earlier and get to know team mates and coaching staff a bit more, but I am just thankful it’s done now and I can go away with Ireland knowing my future is settled.’ Grosicki’s move fell through initially before Burnley improved their offer to £6.8m and the 28-year-old took a flight from Warsaw, where he had been with the Polish national side, to agree terms on a three-year contract at Turf Moor. Burnley had earlier failed with a sixth bid for the Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens.
