Syrian girl, 5, pulled out of rubble after Assad’s bomb
A SYRIAN girl was pulled alive from the rubble of a building after an airstrike in Aleppo which killed her entire family.
Five-year-old Rawan Alowsh cried out in pain as she was hauled from a hole by her ponytail.
A photograph taken later in hospital showed her recovering on a bed in a pair of jeans and a camouflage vest, her face bloodied and bruised.
She had three sisters and a brother. Her parents Mohammad, 28, and Kefaeh, 30, also died in the attack in the Bab al Nairab district yesterday.
Medical sources say 91 people were killed.
The orphaned girl is one of many Syrians living in Aleppo who have been subjected to one of the
‘Never seen such bombardment’
heaviest bombardments in recent times after the end of a ceasefire that lasted almost a week.
Bashar al-Assad’s troops used rocket bombs in the eastern area of the city, as Russian planes were reported to be flying alongside Syrian aircraft.
Syrian military sources suggested the bombing was planned ahead of a ground operation by troops to try to retake parts of rebel-held areas of the city.
Residents claimed the latest bombing, which began late on Wednesday, had deliberately targeted residential areas as the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 27 civilians were killed in about 30 raids.
Ibrahim Alhaj, a member of the Syrian Civil Defence, said three of the group’s centres had been hit on purpose. He added: ‘It is really critical. I have not seen in my life such bombardment. It is very, very intense.’
