remember exactly the moment when Barack Obama was elected nearly eight years ago; there was such hope that america’s first black president would bring harmony to that racially fractured country. Yet this week riots erupted in North carolina after the shooting by police of yet another apparently unarmed black man. How ironic that, under Obama, black americans have never had it so bad. Black lives do matter, it seems — but only if you’re in the White House.
