Many adults go ‘too often’

-

CHILDREN should visit the dentist at least every 12 months – and those with dental problems should go every three or six months, says the NHS watchdog.

However, adults can go less often, and many of the ‘worried well’ are visiting their dentist too often – and could make way for patients truly in need. Dr Sara Hurley, chief dental officer for England, urged patients to question their dentist if they ask them to come back in six months.

Dr Hurley said: ‘If you go to have your car MOT, and they say ‘‘come back in six months’’, do you blindly adhere to that advice?’
