I NEEDED A STICK – NOW I WALK SIX MILES A DAY

-

When Lynne Davis’s GP warned her she needed diabetes drugs, the 66-year-old started The 8-Week Blood sugar Diet instead. she’s lost over 6st and her diabetes is a thing of the past. Divorced with two children, Lynne lives in County Durham. she says: I WENT on my first diet aged 11, and have bounced between different weight-loss plans ever since.

But the scales kept creeping up until they reached 16st — too much for my 5ft 1in frame. Then, in 2009, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

At first, I tried to control it through dieting. But despite endless slimming clubs, I’d invariably call in at the takeaway on the way home.

Then, my sugar levels rose to the point where I was told I should start taking the diabetes medication metformin. I had to do something. That something was The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet. Despite my nurse’s doubts, I decided to treat myself as an experiment. In just eight weeks, I lost 27lb. That gave me the motivation I so sorely needed to change my life for good.

Today, after just over nine months, I’ve reached my target of 9st 7lb — a loss of 6½st. I feel wonderful.

My weight isn’t the only transformation. When I started the diet, my fasting blood sugar level was 10.9. When you consider a normal reading should be 3.5-5, you can see how high that was.

Astonishingly, it dropped to 5 after just a few months. Today, it never rises above 4. Indeed, my nurse says she has never seen such low results.

My lifestyle is completely different, too. Before, I had mobility issues and would rely on a walking stick. Today, the stick hangs redundant in my hallway. I can happily walk six miles a day. Every time I catch a glimpse of my reflection, I can’t believe it’s me.
