IT GAVE ME TWINS!
Cassie GReensmiTh, 30, lost 6½st in ten weeks and conceived twins. a full-time mum, she lives in Leicester with her husband John, 32, a security officer, and their three daughters. she says: I’D STrUggleD since adolescence to keep off the pounds and after the birth of my daughter, gracie, now five, my weight crept up to 28st.
It had taken us four years and four miscarriages to conceived gracie, but it wasn’t until after her birth that I discovered I had polycystic ovary syndrome and inflammation of the ovaries. This was not only affecting my fertility, but also causing acne and my ever-creeping weight gain.
I worried I’d die in my sleep because I was so overweight, and saddened we wouldn’t be able to have a sibling for gracie without fertility treatment.
I tried numerous diets, but they had little effect and last year I got so desperate I asked my gP to refer me for a gastric bypass. But while I was waiting for the operation date I read about The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet. I’d been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during pregnancy and had five injections of insulin a day.
I started in May 2015. I’d have coffee for breakfast, lunch would be an omelette or tuna and dinner I would have what the family were having, but smaller portions and no carbohydrates.
In the first week I lost more than a stone and after two weeks my blood sugar levels were under control and I was told I could stop injecting insulin. I felt like I was living again.
In the third week I had my first period in five years. After ten weeks I was down to 21st 6lb and, to my amazement, I fell pregnant with twins. I’m 100 per cent certain I have these little girls only because of the diet.
