CVS SURGE

Veterinary giant CVS Group has posted a 30pc boost in revenues as it says Brexit will have a ‘ limited’ impact on growth. CVS, which has more than 360 vet surgeries in the UK, said revenue was £218.1m for the year to June 30. It continued on the acquisitio­n trail snapping up 67 surgeries, driving profit up 6pc to £9.1m. Its pet crematoriu­m division saw sales rise from £2.6m to £5m. Chairman Richard Connell said the exposure to any impacts from Brexit appeared to be limited. The group proposed an interim dividend of 3.5p per share to be paid in December – 16.7pc up on last year.

EAST FEAST

Legal & General has ploughed more than £ 1bn into projects in east London this year. Investment­s include Transport for London’s new £246m HQ in Stratford, flats in Walthamsto­w, DP World’s London Gateway port and an Amazon warehouse in Tilbury. Kerrigan Procter, managing director of Legal & General Retirement, said: ‘East London is a great place to invest. The UK needs new infrastruc­ture if it’s going to grow and prosper in the 21st century, and we are helping to fund and deliver it.’

GENDER PAY

Britain’s gender pay gap won’t close until 2069 unless more women are encouraged to take up careers in industries such as science and engineerin­g, a report claims.

Research by accountanc­y giant Deloitte suggests that women should take advantage of technology- driven changes in the labour market by studying and working in areas like science, technology, engineerin­g and maths.

Deloitte’s study shows the hourly pay gap between men and women is closing at a rate of just 2.5p per year – with pay parity not expected until 2069.

CARE DEAL

24Hr HomeCare, a care provider for the elderly and disabled, has teamed up with Wanda Technology to improve treatment.

The LA- based company will use Wanda’s technology to assess future health complicati­ons, to help monitor the wellbeing of its patients.

Wanda, owned by NetScienti­fic PLC portfolio company in San Francisco, said the deal was an ‘excellent endorsemen­t’ of digital healthcare technology.
