Arsene’s book delay
JOSE MOURINHO’S inflammatory text comment about ‘breaking the face’ of Arsene Wenger — revealed in Sportsmail’s book serialisation yesterday — will only increase speculation as to if or when the Arsenal manager will have his say in his own autobiography on numerous subjects, including Mourinho.
An official Wenger life story has long been the football book craved by publishers. Wenger, who could command a £2million advance, said yesterday: ‘I will maybe do a book one day, but I’m not ready yet.’ Wenger will wait until he’s retired, but his lucrative monthly interview with TV network BeIN Sport shows he can be tempted.
Former FA chairman Greg Dyke has been told there is plenty of interest from publishers in him writing a book about his turbulent three years at Wembley. But Dyke wants more time to decide if he wants to commit to the writing task. THERE is considerable angst at Welsh Schools football level — the pathway which helped produce almost all of the national team which reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals — that they receive no financial backing from the FA of Wales, unlike the schools FAs in the other home nations. A spokesman for the FAW said their future international players were now coming through the clubs’ academy system and a strategy blueprint from Welsh Schools football had been rejected.
