Olympic golden couple’s secret wedding... with the dogs in tow!

AFTER their golden performance in Rio, Laura Trott said it was probably time she and Jason Kenny got married.

And on Saturday the cyclists, the most successful Olympic couple in history, did just that in a secret ceremony.

Refreshingly for modern celebrities the pair, who have ten gold medals between them, tied the knot without signing a big-money deal with a glossy magazine.

Mr Kenny, 28, confirmed the news yesterday by tweeting a picture of his 24-year-old bride still in bed with the couple’s dogs Sprolo and Pringle, a springer spaniel cross and a poodle, and the caption: ‘Good morning Mrs Kenny.’ Alongside a photo of the bridal party outside the church, Miss Trott wrote on Instagram: ‘The happiest day of my life. With all my family and friends I married my best friend. We had the most amazing day and I’m so pleased to be able to call Jason my husband.’

Miss Trott wore a long-sleeved wedding gown, with a lace scalloped neckline and sweetheart bodice with diamante detail at her waist.

Mr Kenny, a self-proclaimed ‘miserable sod’ who proposed as they watched the EastEnders Christmas special in 2014, was beaming in a grey suit.

The wedding took place in front of around 100 family and friends at a church in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

Guests included cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, who shares the accolade of Britain’s most decorated Olympian with Mr Kenny – the pair each have six gold medals after Mr Kenny won three in Rio; Miss Trott won two.

Miss Trott had three bridesmaids including her sister Emma, 27, who was matron of honour, and fellow cyclist Dani King, who won gold with Miss Trott in the women’s team pursuit at London 2012.

The reception took place at the Hilltop Country House in nearby Prestbury, with the venue later posting an image on its Instagram site showing the couple enjoying their first dance. Owner Clare Gardner told the Daily Mail: ‘Laura looked absolutely beautiful.

‘There was no Hello! deal and there was not a (press) camera lens in sight at the church or the reception, which is quite an achievement.’ She added: ‘There were no bikes around, but their dogs did come along later in the day and were allowed to stay in their room.’

Miss Trott has said ‘it wasn’t love at first sight’ when she first met Mr Kenny because he never spoke to her in training.

Their romance became public by accident when they were spotted kissing in the crowd as they watched the beach volleyball at the London Games.

Following their Rio success they were asked exactly when their big day would be, but said only that it would be ‘in the near future’.
