ARTHUR Dwight, a 13-year-old cocker spaniel, was a gift to Elton John for his 56th birthday in 2003. Arthur (whose surname is the singer’s original family name) rapidly established himself as the singer’s best friend, acting as ‘best man’ at Sir Elton and David Furnish’s civil partnership ceremony. Regularly dining in Michelin-starred restaurants, Arthur also has a credit on Sir Elton’s 2006 album The Captain And The Kid, for ‘woof-bells’. Whatever that means. He was even ‘married’ (in a ceremony conducted between the dogs) to Sir Elton’s other spaniel, Marilyn, and the couple have a daughter, Isobella. ANNUAL COST: £20,000
