TIMOTHY LEARY (1920-1996). The U.S. psychologist advocated LSD, which led to him being imprisoned several times. Leary, who popularised the phrase ‘Turn on, tune in, drop out’, had his remains sent into orbit, with those of 23 others, in the first space burial. DORIS LESSING (1919-2013). The Persianborn, British feminist author wrote roughly a book a year for nearly 60 years, most famously The Golden Notebook in 1962. In 2007, she won the Nobel Prize in Literature, and is still the oldest person to receive it.
