‘WHAT have we done?’ wails a sleep-deprived Bernadette, echoing the thoughts of many a new parent as the cheery U.S. comedy returns for a new run. She and Howard aren’t coping terribly well, which isn’t good for them — but it’s a great source of comedy.

WAX WORKS Madame Tussaud: A Legend In Wax, 9pm, BBC4

THE memoirs of Marie Tussaud are the starting point for this new profile of the entreprene­ur, which also goes into some detail on wax model-making techniques. Her account isn’t always to be trusted, though, and that’s where the story really does get

interestin­g.

NEW COMEDY DRAMA Gap Year, 9pm, E4

THIS new comedy drama follows a couple of Brits on a ‘lads’ holiday to China’. The concept is amusingly odd, but, beyond that, this is a show in dire need of a good story — although the supporting cast, including Aisling Bea and Janeane Garofalo, provide some laughs.

FANTASY SERIES Legion, 9pm, Fox

TONIGHT David loses patience with his mutant friends’ soft approach, and there’s a thrilling glimpse of the full extent of his powers. Still, viewers expecting this to turn into an all-action blockbuste­r are out of luck, at least for now — this is a very different kind of superhero series, and that’s to its credit.

HARRISON FORD plays Tom Clancy’s hero Jack Ryan who, here, thwarts an IRA plot while in London — only to find that the danger has not passed.

BEAUTIFUL GAME Football: A Brief History By Alfie Allen, 10pm, History

‘I LOVE football,’ says Game Of Thrones actor Alfie Allen (pictured), who played Sunday league as a boy and sang backing vocals on Vindaloo, the football song that featured his dad, Keith. He is our engaged and smiley host for a nicely filmed new two-parter about the game.
