NAOMIE TAKES HER MUM TO THE OSCARS
NAOMIE Harris was planning to dance until the early hours regardless of the outcome in her best supporting actress category – with her ‘hardcore’ mum Carmen by her side.
Miss Harris, 40, was yet another nominee to take a parent as their plus one to last night’s ceremony.
Recognised for her stunning performance as a drug-addict single mother in Moonlight, Miss Harris said they planned to visit as many post-awards parties as possible and dance until dawn.
‘Well, there are lots of parties and we tend to go to them all,’ said teetotaller Miss Harris, who was awarded an OBE last week.
‘I’m going to have a great Oscar night especially because my mum is like a hardcore partier.
‘The idea is to be out till around five o’clock in the morning.’ The actress, who plays Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films, explained that her mother ‘likes to stay out later than me’.
‘She doesn’t go wild or anything like that. It’s more that she doesn’t stop,’ she said. ‘She won’t give in until we’ve exhausted all the parties on our list.’
Miss Harris was raised in a twobedroom council flat in north London by Carmen, who worked in the Post Office to support them. Her mum, now 8, later studied for a sociology degree and became a successful screenwriter.
The pair’s party circuit was due to include the official Governor’s Ball, a trip to the Vanity Fair afterparty, and then the ultra-exclusive bash hosted by Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary.
‘I’m told it’s tough to get in but we’re invited,’ Miss Harris said.
