THIS IS WHAT 63 LOOKS LIKE
VANNA GRANT, who is retired, lives with her husband in Nottinghamshire and has three children in their 30s.
RETIREMENT POWER DRESS
AFTER I stopped working, I made a decision to maintain the style rules that had made me look and feel great during my career. At just over 5 ft, I’ve found the most important of these are my high heels. The fact that I live in the countryside doesn’t deter me. I wear them every day. They pull even the most casual of outfits together — and make me feel so much better.
GO NATURAL
THIS has been my beauty game changer. Until three years ago, I used High Street beauty products but then tried some natural alternatives and found the Tropic range ( tropicskincare.com). I love their ABC cleanser, toner and moisturiser. Now I wouldn’t go back — they’ve really helped give me a glow.
EXFOLIATE YOUR HANDS
IT DOESN’T matter what else you do: as you get older, hands can be one of the most obvious giveaways of your age. Before anything else, I make time to exfoliate them with a moisturising scrub. It works wonders to smooth away the dead skin, keeping my hands silky soft and youthful. I also apply hand cream every day and have a professional manicure once a month.
GET A NEW HAIRDO
UNTIL recently, I had long hair. I wasn’t nervous about getting it chopped off — I like to try different styles, whether it be a radical shape alteration or just changing my parting. I have naturally wavy hair, but like straightening it now and then for a sleeker look. The most important thing is to embrace change.
BRIGHT EYES
I HAVE always made an effort with my make-up and often used bold eyeshadows to brighten my blue eyes. As I’ve got older, however, I’m wary of coming across as if I’m trying too hard. A great trick is to blend brighter colours with neutral tones. I recommend using mineral eyeshadow as liner for a softer look and wearing lip liner to define lips and stop lipstick from bleeding.
