SINGLETONS create their perfect match on a computer in this new series; then, the programmemakers scour the country for lookalikes — and place their ‘client’ in a house full of them. In part one, 23-year-old Charlotte worries she won’t be able to tell her clones apart — that’s a problem for the viewer, too, but this is a fun idea.
FREEVIEW FLICK Mission: Impossible, 8pm, E4
TOM CRUISE makes the Sixties TV spy series his own with this first of (so far) five big movies (a sixth is promised). Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, a member of the Impossible Missions Force; he is framed for murdering colleagues in Prague, so he goes on the run through Europe and the rest of the world.

UPBEAT U.S. chat show host Jimmy Kimmel is presenting the e Oscars for the first time, at a ceremony where the favourite is also a cheery sort — La La LandLand. It has 14 nods, the most ever, equal to All About Eve and Titanic. Nominated British actors include Naomie Harris (pictured).
ACCLAIMED COMEDY Girls, 10pm, Sky Atlantic
PART three of the final season is a tightly written two-hander between Hannah and randy author Chuck Palmer (played with an edgy sensitivity by Matthew Rhys), about whom she may well have written a libellous article. He’s not happy, she’s spikily defensive, and their back-and-forth comprises the entire episode.

WHEN his wife dies, banker Jake Gyllenhaal (pictured) goes into a tailspin of numbness and grief. He starts breaking stuff in a repetitive, sledgehammer-style metaphor for what has become his broken life.
