Shame of the married rail boss arrested over sex games at restaurant

- By Andrew Levy

A MARRIED rail chief has quit his job after he was spotted playing drunken sex games with a woman in a restaurant.

FirstGroup director Michael Barker, 58, horrified other diners with his depraved antics with the woman, who is believed to be a sex worker.

At one stage, he was handcuffed to his chair and he and his companion made ‘spanking’ gestures with a metal ruler. The woman groped Barker beneath the table, and shocked onlookers said the pair disappeared into the toilets ‘four or five times’.

Police were called to the Ibis Hotel restaurant in Luton, Bedfordshire, after receiving complaints and led both away in handcuffs. Barker quit FirstGroup shortly before admitting public indecency during a hearing at Luton Magistrates’ Court last week.

A witness told The Sun: ‘I’ve never seen anything like it. The woman cuffed him. Next thing he was uncuffed and they both went towards the toilets. They must have gone in four or five times. In the end, police led him away – in handcuffs, rather ironically.’

Barker, pictured, who married Linda, 57, in 2004 and was living in Luton, admitted a ‘terrible lack of judgment’. An entry on his Facebook page from August 23 last year declared: ‘I think I’m in love with someone.’

Comments from friends included one which said: ‘With your wife hopefully!’

He responded cryptically: ‘This is something to do with breast cancer. I got caught liking a post and I was told I had to do something stupid. Bearing in mind I’m familiar with stupidity I thought it would be churlish not to.’

Barker, who is affiliated with the Labour Party, was appointed as a non-executive employee director of FirstGroup in January 2012.

A company spokesman said: ‘He is no longer a director or employee.’

Linda Barker appeared to be standing by her husband yesterday.

She arrived home at their £160,000 maisonette in Luton in a car driven by her husband, who moved the bins before going inside. Mrs Barker answered the door a few minutes later but, when asked about the court case, said: ‘I don’t want to talk to anyone about it.’

Barker will be sentenced on March 17.
