Room for a small one? The 8ft wide home on sale for £595,000

‘Former horse and cart entrance’

IT IS less than 8ft wide but this tiny Victorian home is on the market for an eye-watering £595,000.

Noel Lodge was built where a former horse and cart entrance once stood for a manor house which led to stables in the rear gardens.

The 560 sq ft property in Ealing, West London was part of the manor which was turned into a day school for poor children in 1834 by Lady Byron – the widow of poet Lord Byron. The school finally closed in 1917, but it is thought the lodge was converted into a house in the 1890s. Its ground floor is 7ft 11in wide and 21ft 3in long complete with kitchen and dining area which leads to a communal garden.

The first and second floors both measure 12ft 7in by 7ft 10in, each have a shower room. One can be used as a lounge or they could both be made into bedrooms. The larger buldings either side are now flats.

And the lodge is certainly an investment – the leasehold was sold less than six years ago for just £299,500.

But for its current £595,000 asking price you could buy a five-bedroom house in Richmond, North Yorkshire.
