GET SET FOR SMART ROBOTS WITH AN IQ OF 10,000
A TECH tycoon believes that within 30 years robots will outnumber humans – and be 1,000 times smarter.
Masayoshi Son, founder of Japanese tech giant Softbank which owns Britain’s ARM Holdings, predicts a future where the intelligence of robots will surpass the human brain – reaching an IQ of 10,000.
The average human has an IQ of 100. One of the world’s greatest minds, Albert Einstein, scored about 160. But his intelligence will pale in comparison to the robots of tomorrow. Smart robots will be flying, swimming and be able to walk and crawl – and each person will own up to 100 of them, predicted Son, 59.
‘Even the chips in our shoes in 30 years will be smarter than our brain,’ he said. ‘We will be less intelligent than our shoes.’
Machines pose a real threat to the workforce. This week telecoms giant O2 said it is seeking to cut costs in call centres by asking people to talk to an artificially intelligent robot instead.
‘AI is going to be our partner,’ Son declared. ‘But if we misuse it, there is a risk.’
