FIRST came ‘conscious uncoupling’ as a luvvie alternative to splitting up. Now Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have coined another sugarcoated euphemism.
They have broken up after a year together, describing it as ‘taking respectful, loving space’.
The announcement came days after the couple appeared together at an Oscars event on Sunday night. A week ago, Bloom was pictured cosying up to Erin McCabe, daughter of the boss of the Global Green brand, at a Holly- wood party. A statement released to People magazine said: ‘Before rumours or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.’
Bloom and Miss Perry caused a stir in August when they were pictured paddle-boarding on holiday in the Mediterranean – with Bloom naked except for a blue baseball cap. The couple had drifted apart in recent months, Hollywood sources say.
It was reported that they clashed because British actor Bloom, 40, was not ready for marriage and more children.
But a source close to Miss Perry claimed the US singer, 2, initiated the split. Miss Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand and had an on-off relationship with musician John Mayer. Bloom’s marriage to model Miranda Kerr, with whom he has a son, ended in 201 .
