Prisoner Rolf ’s first public outing in 3 years
ROLF Harris has been seen in public for the first time since being jailed for child sex offences almost three years ago.
Now aged 86, the entertainer was instantly recognisable as he attended a hospital appointment.
He kept his head down with a book while being escorted by two guards from a prison van to New Cross Hos-
pital in Wolverhampton. One onlooker said: ‘He didn’t want to be recognised but everyone knows his face, and with that hair and beard he stuck out like a sore thumb.’
Harris spent 45 minutes at the hospital last week before returning to HMP Stafford 20 miles away. It has not been disclosed why he went. Harris could be released in July after serving half of his original jail term. However, he is facing a retrial over three alleged sex assaults, and one new count. Harris, who denies the charges, will be retried in May.
He was convicted of 12 sex offences and jailed for five years and nine months in 2014.
