Uber boss walks out

UBER’S pres­i­dent has re­signed amid claims of sex­ism and sex­ual ha­rass­ment among man­age­ment at the taxi app firm.

Jeff Jones, who joined less than six months ago, crit­i­cised the ‘be­liefs and ap­proach’ of the com­pany, and stepped down with im­me­di­ate ef­fect.

The US firm was forced to in­ves­ti­gate af­ter a for­mer uber en­gi­neer claimed her man­ager made sex­ual ad­vances to­wards her.

Jones said yes­ter­day he joined uber ‘be­cause of its mis­sion’, but added: ‘It is now clear, how­ever, that the be­liefs and ap­proach to lead­er­ship that have guided my ca­reer are in­con­sis­tent with what I saw and ex­pe­ri­enced at uber, and I can no longer con­tinue as pres­i­dent of the busi­ness.’
