SHERWOOD BANNED FOR FOUL-MOUTHED REF RANT

- CONTRIBUTORS: Sam Cunningham and Sam Morshead

SWINDON TOWN director of football Tim Sherwood has received a two-game stadium ban for calling referee Mark Brown a ‘f****** mug’. Sherwood was punished by the FA for his behaviour at Bury on February 11 when he launched a halftime rant at Brown, who had awarded the home side a penalty. The FA also fined Sherwood £2,000 and revealed Brown’s report of the incident, which read: ‘Tim Sherwood of Swindon Town approached me and said, “You’re the only f***** in the ground that’s f****** seen it you f****** mug”. He then started pointing aggressively in my face.’ Sherwood accepted a misconduct charge and has been warned about his future behaviour. Swindon are currently 22nd in League One.
