Freud makes an exhibition – of herself

-

LUCIAN FREUD’s daughter Bella poses by a famous portrait of herself as a baby, painted by her father.

Fashion designer Bella, 55, whose mother was the writer and gardener Bernardine Coverley, shared the photo on social media while visiting Chatsworth House in derbyshire, the home of the duke and duchess of devonshire, for an exhibition opening.

Called Baby On A Green sofa and believed to be Lucian’s youngest ever subject, it was painted in 1961 — the year not only of Bella’s birth, but also when two of Lucian’s other children were born. The artist has 14 acknowledged offspring.
